The band Markize is formed in 2003 as fruit of complicity it’s two co-founders – Alina Dunaevskaya and David Verbecq. The purpose of this collaboration is not only to live a common passion but also that, for Alina, in hope to take her revenge on her grievous past. They wish to make music not only for rock and metal music lovers but for all public. Thus much importance is attached to lyrics written in English, French and Russian.
Very soon this musical project is made to happen with the meeting of Emilien Vincent (guitarist) and recording of the demo disc “Poussières de Vie” in August 2004. It was well received by musical critics and public so the band set off on concert tour during 2004 and 2005.
After a period of collaboration, Emilien Vincent leaves the group to devote himself to his personal projects. Thus Alina and David continue together to write compositions for their future album and to look for musicians who would be in real osmosis with their musical project. Futher to several changes of line-up, the issue of album took more time than previewed. The adventure is consolided in July 2005, and the duo is transformed into the complete and united band due to meeting of Franck Chentrier et Nicolas Thomas (guitars), and a little later Gautier Blondeel (bass guitar).
Finally, it’s with this strong and stable line-up that Markize records their first album “Transparence”.
The band gives an amount of concerts in Paris ( with Penumbra at Salle Curial, with Cult of Luna at La Locomotive...) and also in different regions of France. Besides that, it took part in the compilation of French Metal « Contre vents et marées » with the track « Paperdoll ».
The album “Transparence” is on sale since the 10th of Mars 2007 with Acropole Records. Once more, the reaction of public and musical critics is very positive and encouraging.
Markize is on tour in Paris and Provence in May, June and July 2007 to meet their public and to introduce their album.
In August 2007, Gautier Blondeel leaves the band to dedicate himself to his family life. After several auditions, Pierre Vo is chosen to be the new Markize bassist for his human and musical qualities.
The concerts begin again in September 2007, and in october Markize took part in the MFVF Warm-up show in Belgium and is selected to play in the famous Metal female voices Fest 6 in october 2008 which gather, every year, the most famous metal bands with female singers in the world!
